Electronic Surveillance to Secure Cities



Electronic surveillance is being used as an important component in metropolis prone to unconventional terror warfare.

Delhi has taken up the process of electronic surveillance at 63 markets/public places, 27 border check posts and 6 District Courts as well as the High Court. They also plan to have City Surveillance System covering 9 intersections with 26 static cameras and 10 Pan-Tilt Zoom cameras. During the Commonwealth Games, 2010, a C4I solution was implemented in which a state-of-the art control room was established. States have taken up the process in important cities out of their own funds or through the Modernization of Police Forces grants given to them.

The Delhi Police has already implemented Phase-I of the Market Surveillance Project for the Phase-II of the Project they have projected a requirement of 1694 fixed cameras and 312 Pan-Tilt Zoom cameras.
