During his Seva Yatra to East Champaran on Friday, the chief minister is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of a much-awaited bridge in Kesariya block near Sattarghat on river Gandak. The 1.75-km-long bridge will connect East Champaran and Gopalganj districts and once complete, the travel time will be halved. Now, it takes around three hours to travel between the districts.
The bridge would be constructed in collaboration with Nabard at an estimated cost of Rs 384 crore. It would also ensure the shortest route to reach Gopalganj and Chhapra in Saran district. The bridge would reduce the 130km distance between East Champaran and Chhapra by around one-third.
Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, road construction minister Nand Kishore Yadav, tourism minister Sunil Kumar ‘Pintu’, urban development minister and minister in-charge of East Champaran Prem Kumar and Motihari MP Radha Mohan Singh would also be present on the occasion.
