The wife of Shriman Lau Prasad Yadav,Rabri Devi, is set to resume her political career once again !
The RJD legislature party has “unanimously” nominated her as a contestant for the election to the state Legislative Council, scheduled for April 26. Lalu himself chaired the meeting to get his wife chosen as the party nominee.
Rabri, who enjoyed the perks of the Chief Minister doing absolutely nothing while she was in charge of Bihar for eight years (1997-2005) was forced to manage her kitchen because of the drubbing she received from her electorates. She virtually went into a political hibernation after her massive defeat in the two seats — Raghopur and Sonepur — that she contested in the 2010 Assembly elections.
The resentment was audible in the background of the ostensible “unanimity” among the party leaders to nominate Rabri Devi for the lone Council seat that the RJD was likely to bag with the support of its ally, the LJP. “Laluji ko aaj bhi pata nahin hai ki kyon RJD barbad hua a senior party leader said.
It was widely perceived that a homemaker and mother of nine kids, Rabri was “reluctant” to take over the state’s chief ministership in 1997 when Lalu suddenly “installed” her on the chair in the wake of a CBI court issuing non-bailable warrant against him in connection with the multi-crore fodder scam.
“Rabri’s presence in the Council will give the ruling alliance an added opportunity to criticise the RJD and remind the people of how Lalu was obsessed more with his wife and family rather than the cause of the people
