Why Nitish Kumar did not campaign in Gujarat ?

Why has Bihar CM Nitish Kumar chosen not to campaign in Gujarat despite his JD(U) fielding 75 candidates? The JD(U) going solo in Gujarat, initially, created a buzz given the projected Modi-Nitish rivalry which even resulted in the Bihar CM 'vetoing' Modi campaigning in Bihar despite their parties' alliance in the state.
But now it has emerged that Mr Kumar has failed to campaign in Gujarat even for a single day. This despite JD(U) president Sharad Yadav campaigning for JD(U) candidates for four days. Since the JD(U) and BJP do not have an alliance in Gujarat, there was no question of Modi vetoing Kumar's entry.
So, the question is, did Kumar stayed away from Gujarat as a gesture of thanksfor Modi keeping off Bihar, or was it also his way of seeking Modi's 'understanding' for not breaching the mutually-convenient Lakshman rekha in the 2014 polls as well?
